blooket
Hey, folks! Recently, some of our Instagram followers reached out to me, asking about a new educational website called Blooket. It’s a fresh platform that’s making waves in the educational gaming world. I’m not entirely sure if I’m pronouncing it correctly, but let’s roll with it! Blooket is similar to well-known tools like Gimkit and Kahoot, but it brings a unique twist to the table.
In this post, I’ll take you on a deep dive into Blooket, sharing why it’s a fantastic resource for keeping students engaged, whether in a virtual or in-person setting.
Blooket : A Quick Overview
First things first, let’s clarify the pronunciation: it’s “Blue-kit.” No more confusion! With that settled, let’s dive into what Blooket has to offer. This versatile platform offers a variety of game modes, some ideal for homework, others perfect for live classroom sessions, and some that can be used for both. This flexibility is a game-changer for educators.

To get started, you’ll need to sign up for an account on the Blooket website. If you already have an account, you can simply log in. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for new modes that are constantly being added. Now, let’s explore the main features and functionalities of Blooket.
Discovering Sets
Once you’re logged in, you’ll be greeted with the option to either create your own sets or discover existing ones. While I’m yet to create my own sets, I’ve found a treasure trove of pre-made sets that suit my needs.
Personally, I’ve been using Blooket to help my students review math facts. It’s a fun way to practice and engage with the material. You might eventually want to create your own sets, especially for subjects like vocabulary, but for now, let’s delve into the sets you can discover.

Blooket boasts an array of game modes to keep things exciting. Here are some of the most popular ones:
1. Gold Quest
Gold Quest is a favorite among my students. In this mode, participants answer questions, earn gold, and engage in intense competitions. The time limits add a layer of excitement, making the game truly captivating.
2. Cafe
Cafe mode brings an element of strategy into play. You’ll serve food to virtual customers, restock your supplies by answering questions, and invest your earnings to create an awesome cafe. Students must strike a balance between serving customers and managing upgrades to maximize their profits.
3. Factory
In Factory mode, students build a factory by answering questions. The quicker they answer, the more items they can produce. It’s a strategic game that keeps learners on their toes.
4. Racing
Racing is a thrilling mode where players answer questions to make their avatars move along a track. The first one to correctly answer 30 questions wins the race. It’s a great way to test students’ knowledge while adding an element of competition.
5. Tower of Doom and Crazy Kingdom
These modes can only be assigned as homework, making them perfect for out-of-class learning. Students engage with educational content while having fun.
6. Pets and Blocks
These modes bring an additional layer of strategy and resource management. Students have to make decisions on what to invest in and when, introducing them to economic concepts in a playful manner.
Join Blooket
Once you’ve selected a game mode, you can host a game session. Set the parameters, including the time limit. I’ve found that a seven-minute game duration works well. Shorter games keep students engaged, and you can reuse the same question set while trying different game modes.
Once you’ve set the rules, click “Host,” and Blooket will provide you with a unique game ID. Students can join by entering this ID on the website.
A Student’s Perspective
I took the time to play as a student to provide insights into what your learners will experience. After entering the game pin and selecting a nickname, students can choose an avatar. Then, they wait for the game to begin. It’s straightforward and engaging.
Intense and Exhilarating
In Gold Quest, players answer questions and select chests, leading to the thrill of earning or losing gold. What makes this mode exceptionally exciting is the “swap” option, where you can take or trade gold with other players. The last moments of the game can be chaotic, as students strategize to emerge victorious.
Cafe: Balancing Act
In the Cafe mode, students must manage customer orders by restocking their supplies through question answers. As they earn more money, they can unlock and upgrade food items in their cafe. It’s a game of balance and strategy, making it an engaging experience.
More Game Modes
While I haven’t had the chance to explore every game mode in depth, Battle Royale, Classic, and others offer a diverse range of learning experiences. They have distinct features and objectives that are worth exploring with your students.
Wrapping It Up
In summary, Blooket is an excellent tool for educators looking to inject fun and interactivity into their lessons. Its various game modes cater to different learning styles and preferences. The platform is easy to navigate, and students quickly grasp the mechanics, making it a valuable addition to your teaching arsenal.
So, don’t hesitate to give Blooket a try! Whether you’re teaching virtually or in person, it’s a fantastic resource to keep your students engaged, review essential skills, and even reward them for their hard work. The learning potential here is immense.
